Survey results of five and twelve-year-old children attending special support schools (2014)

This report and associated tables present the results of standardised dental examinations of five and twelve-year-old children who attended non-residential special support schools across England during the 2013/14 academic year. This is the first national survey for this population group. The report provides narrative, comment, summary and detailed analysis of the data, including comparison with levels of oral health among mainstream-educated children. The tables provide details of total populations for the two age cohorts, number of children examined, along with estimates of dental decay prevalence and severity. Data and associated confidence intervals are presented at national, government regional, public health centre and upper-tier local authority level. Consultants in Dental Public Health in PHE Centres can provide advice about interpretation and application of this information.
