|   |   | | Alcohol Profile for the Liverpool City Region |
The North West Public Health Observatory provided up-to-date, evidence-based research support to the Liverpool City Region Health is Wealth Commission, which was established to examine the growing gap between the City Region’s booming economic performance and its worsening public health status and to look at why this might be happening, and to make recommendations as to what might be done to help improve the situation.
One of the Commission's key themes was alcohol, and so NWPHO produced this summary report profiling the impact of alcohol-related harm in the area to assist the Commission in producing such recommendations.
The Commission's final report, which also contains an appendix produced by NWPHO on the general health of Liverpool City Region residents, is available at http://www.healthiswealthcommission.org.uk/ |

|   |   | | North West regional Health Profile |
The North West regional Health Profile is an output from the third round of local Health Profiles that were released on 24 June 2008. These profiles contain new indicators as well as filling some of the indicator gaps that have previously existed. All indicators are compared to the England average and inequalities within areas are also shown.
Health Profiles complement other sources of information available to local partnerships. The Public Health Observatories are working to incorporate national indicators, such as NHS Vital Signs, into local health intelligence. We have launched an online health profiler tool www.nwpho.org.uk/healthprofiler
All national health profiles are available for download at www.healthprofiles.info, a newly launched website which also lets users create comparisons with other areas as well as maps and charts. Local profiles for the North West region can be found at www.apho.org.uk/resource/view.aspx?RID=50215®ION=50151
