As an integrated part of public health intelligence in the Centre for Public Health at Liverpool John Moores University and the North West region, the NWPHO is also a member of a national network of other public health observatories across England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland (the APHO).
The NWPHO determines its three year work plan through representation on the steering group. The work plan for the period 2005-2008 is due to be completed by April 2008 and the next three year work plan covering the period 2008-2011 is currently being negotiated.
