Health Protection
Agency North West is part of the Local and
Regional Services (LARS) Division of the Health
Protection Agency. HPA North West covers the
three Strategic Health Authorities of Greater
Manchester, Cheshire & Merseyside and Cumbria &
Lancashire, and the 42 Primary Care Trusts
associated with them.
HPA North West provides a health protection
service covering infectious, chemical and
radioactive hazards across the region. The
Agency provides advice and guidance to the
public, and advice, guidance and operational
support to the NHS and other agencies. The
agency also contributes to the promotion of
professional standards, and the training and
development of a range of NHS staff and other
staff involved in both communicable disease and
non-communicable disease control. |
