| | INCDNCM conferences are multidisciplinary and include topics on viral, rickettsial, bacterial, parasitic, and prion-related diseases acquired from natural sources, including animals (wild or domestic), contaminated water or food supplies, arthropod vectors and other sources. The focus of the meeting is to present information from clinical, epidemiological, research and diagnostic areas primarily related to zoonotic diseases, both current and emerging. This meeting is especially suited to public health practitioners and healthcare workers, such as laboratorians, epidemiologists, veterinarians, infectious disease specialists, medical health officers, researchers and students, who have an interest in zoonotic infections and wish to present their findings either orally or through posters sessions. Location: University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin, USA 12th-14th August 2007 See: http://www.union.wisc.edu/INCDNCM/index.html | |

| | Location: Swissotel The Stamford/Biopolis • Singapore. Dates: December 10 - 15, 2006. Meeting Summary: Most human viral infections are derived from viruses of animals at some time in the past. The process continues, with adaptation taking place before our eyes. There is a need to bring together medical and veterinary virologists to discuss the ecologies of these agents, how they are transmitted and how we can block transmission to humans. The key problems in this area are the identification of reservoirs, the mechanics of transmission, and how to predict and perhaps control adaptation to new hosts. This meeting will be held in Singapore, a central point in Asia, where most of the interaction between animals and humans is occurring, and thus where new knowledge needs to be applied. We will seek to bring as many Asian virologists as possible to give short papers.
