NWCIS collects data from many sources to provide population-based cancer information for the North West of England.  This information is used to improve cancer services, and to support research into the prevention and treatment of cancer.

Title
Launch of the Cancer e-Atlas
A new public website ‘Cancer e-Atlas’ has been launched by the newly established National Cancer Intelligence Network (NCIN) to improve public access to basic cancer statistics at Local Authority and Cancer Network level across England.  It presents data on the incidence of, and mortality / survival from the main types of cancers in men and women. Lung Cancer in the North West
This report evaluates trends in lung cancer in the North West of England with particular focus on the epidemiology and treatment of lung cancer, and future impact of the smoking ban.  The report builds upon and expands on previously published work on lung cancer in Cheshire and Merseyside, and covers the whole of the North West.

Electronic MDT and Registration Data (2008-2011) Workshop Presentations
On Friday 26th September, NWCIS hosted a successful workshop in exploring the challenges faced by Providers across the NHS North West in delivering faster and better information to support cancer care, research, commissioning and patient choice.
 
Speakers included representatives from the NHS North West and the DH Cancer Action Team. Their presentations are attached, in order of workshop programme.
