Cardiovascular Disease

The Greater Manchester & Cheshire Cardiac and Stroke Network serves a population of 3.2 Million across Greater Manchester and East Cheshire.

The network consists of all health professional, patients and carers involved in cardiac or stroke services. The aim of the Network is to deliver equitable, high quality and effective patient centred focused care.

The Cardiac & Stroke Network was formed in April 2008 by bringing the existing cardiac and stroke networks together. The individual specialist boards have been retained to ensure clarity in delivering both the Cardiac and Stroke agendas. They are supported by a core network support team who facilitate and support the delivery of programmes of work based on agreed strategies.

The Network strategies were developed collaboratively working with commissioners, clinicians, managers and patient representatives across the network to define patient pathways and design services which improve patient outcomes. Priorities have been agreed within the overall strategies these are crucial in providing a comprehensive picture to commissioners to direct funding decisions.

The network strategies set out key priorities and future direction for both cardiac and stroke services across Greater Manchester and Cheshire. They are developed by an informed process of review and consultation with the cardiac and stroke communities. This has resulted in the agreement of the new cardiac strategy (2008-2011) and the implementation of the new Stroke plan for the network area - full details of which can be found on the Greater Manchester& Cheshire Cardiac and Stroke website.
