The Directors of Public Health Group in Greater Manchester have identified priority areas that have the potential to fundamentally improve public health in GM. Each of these priority areas has a project lead, a lead Director of Public Health, and some project infrastructure (meetings, work plans etc). In some cases the accountability for delivery is shared between the public health network and other clinical networks or partnerships.

Organising and listing these projects as independent categories should not imply that their interdependency is not recognised – tobacco control is for example fundamental to efforts to address CVD and cancer. Whilst some projects are largely discrete it is an important responsibility of the core team of the public health network to highlight common activities and interdependencies and maximise the opportunity for joint working.
