In recent years the GM Directors of
Public Health group has become recognised as an
authoritative and effective joint group - driving
forward the health inequalities agenda and playing a
full part in the joint work of the PCTs in Greater
Manchester. The driving force to the GM Public Health
Network is the GM Directors
of Public Health Group. The
public health network board is jointly chaired by the
Chair of the GM Directors of
Public Health Group. The GM DPH group routinely operate
as the DPH group of the
Association of GM PCTs. However as a function of their
professional independence
the GM Directors of Public Health Group can operate in a
mode outside of the accountability
structure of the Association as a
stand-alone group of Directors of Public Health
providing independent advice to the system. When they
are in this mode this is clearly stated.
The Chair of
the Greater Manchester Directors of Public Health Group
is currently Jan Hutchinson.”
